Whether we stop to recognize it or not, every day we choose our battles. We choose whether or not we will fight a battle or simply concede defeat or ignore it. We choose how hard we will fight or how quickly we will surrender. And sometimes, believe it or not, a quick surrender is our best option. Sometimes the battles just are not worth fighting.
Some of you might be reading this and think, well I don’t have a choice because my battles come looking for me. Maybe you’re thinking about your boss at work and how he’s constantly on your case. Maybe everyday you battle with your coworkers over how the job should be done. It might be that you are battling with your kids to get them to listen and obey. Yet with all these things we could choose to walk away….we could choose to pack it in….we could give up.
Now some things, like our children’s future, are worth fighting for. Knowing which things are MOST important is critical. I often find myself fighting meaningless battles that I really should just walk away from. So ask yourself today, “what battles am I fighting?” “Are these the right battles that are worth fighting or should I be walking away?”
And when you feel like you have no choices, remember this. There was a man who did battle for you and He had no choice. There was no plan B. Walking away was not an option.
He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”
Matthew 26:39
Jesus died for us. He made the ultimate sacrifice to do battle against sin, hell, and the grave and He won.

Here are just a few thoughts after today. Whether your a morning person or not, church is worth getting up for. There is just not a better way to spend your Sunday morning, then to spend it with God.
I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go into the house of the LORD.”
Psalm 122:1
I hope you spent this morning at church somewhere, if not then I got to tell you that you are missing out. I’d encourage you to find a church where you can get plugged in and be a part of the body of Christ. We need to have that connection to other people who believe just as we do.
This morning at connecting point we talked about the Good Shepherd. Jesus is our Good Shepherd. John 10:11 tells us that the Good Shepherd gave His life for us. I want to take a moment in this post to dive a little deeper into John 10. In fact let’s backup to verse 4 and break it down here.
And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice
John 10:4
3 Things We Need to Know About the Good Shepherd.
1) Jesus Brings Us Out.
He will bring you out of your sin. The old is gone and the new has come. Jesus saves us from our imperfection and leads us in the way we are supposed to go.
2) Jesus Goes Before Us.
He is leading the way. Just like Jesus said to Jairus, we need to not be afraid. We don’t need to be afraid of what the future holds, because Jesus is there leading the way for us.
3) Jesus is Speaking, and We Need to Hear and Know His Voice.
Do you want to know the secret for hearing God’s voice? Here it is…get ready for this….The secret to hearing the voice of God is to listen. The best place to start if you want to hear God’s voice is to read His word. Read your bible because it is the voice of God. God’s word is God’s voice.
So this week, I encourage you to dive into the word. Spend some time reading your bible and listening to what Jesus has to say. And then this Sunday why don’t you join us at Connecting Point Church for our service on Sunday morning.
