Would Ya Rather?

Would you rather have people say of you;

“man that guy really knows the bible”

or

“man that guy really loves Jesus”

Let’s face it, the truth is that no one cares how much you know until they know how much you care.  We’ve all heard that expression before.  And, I happen to believe it.  So what is more important?  Is is more important that people think of you as a bible scholar who is just a genious when it comes to scriptures…or is it it more important that people know you love Jesus?

You can quote scripture and expound upon the depths of your theological knowledge or you can simply live a life that reveals how much you love Jesus (and love people ).  Which one do you think is going to make the bigger impact?  Don’t get me, wrong we out to be studying the word so that we can “rightfully divide” it.  In other words we need to be able to understand it.  (2 timothy 2:15)  However if we have done nothing to show people that we care, than we are probably doing little to reach them.

3 I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human[a] wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
1 Corinthians 2:3-5

Our’s is a gospel of demonstration.  My prayer today is that my life will be one that demonstrates the love of Jesus Christ through my words and my deeds.
