Overcoming

Over the past year our youth ministry has struggled.  Our numbers dwindled this summer to the 30′s.  A year ago we had over a 100 students each week.  We have prayed hard and God is moving.  Last night we saw 81 in attendance at our Wednesday night service.  It is so good see nxt.lvl growing.  During our service last night 12 students crossed over from death to life as they made decisions for Jesus.  As good as it is to see the ministry grow, it is even better to see the family of God growing!

Watching young people make a choice to become a follower of Christ never gets old.  That is awesome!!  I know they walked out of that place different then they walked in.  I know that God is doing something in them.

During our service last night I quoted a lot from Revelation chapter 12.  I wanted to share with you a verse from last night’s service.  It’s from Revelation 12:11.  In it, the bible says that they overcame by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony.

There are two things that I think we need to walk away with as we read that.  Number one, we can’t do this on our own.  We need Jesus.  He is the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Him.  We overcome by the blood of the lamb.  Think about this, the blood has already been shed!  That means you already overcome by the blood of the lamb.

Number two is this, we overcome by the blood of the lamb AND the word of our testimony.  We have a part to play in overcoming.  In Romans 10:9-10, it says that if we believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord that we will be saved.  That first confession that those 12 students made last night as they confessed that Jesus is Lord is the most important one, but we ought to make confession each and every day.

When money is tight and you don’t know how you will pay the bills, confess that Jesus is Lord of your finances.  When you get a raise, confess that Jesus is Lord of your finances.  No matter what is happening in your life continue to make your testimony.
