Lately I have been thinking that it would be nice to simplify my life. Wouldn’t it be nice if our lives were not so complicated? I mean technology is one thing…there are times when I feel like my life is being run by technology and I’m losing freedom in a sense. But, it’s easy to see how we can benefit from all this hi-tech stuff around us.
Think about the other things that make life complicated. Your job(s), your relationships, your volunteering, and just taking care of yourself can be inredibly overwhelming at times. Let’s face it, the busy lives that we live can become just plain complicated.
It’s easy to think to ourselves, "why does everything have to be so complicated?" Why can’t things be simple like when we were children? Why are there so many tough choices? Why do I have so many things to think about? Why do I have so much to do? Why is life so complicated?
In Matthew 16:13-15 even some of Jesus’ own followers didn’t really understand who He was. In Matthew 13 we see Jesus explaining the purpose of parables. One of his own men, Judas, betrayed him. His closest friends slept while he was in the hour which was perhaps his darkest as He prepared to not only face His death, but to take on the sins of the entire world. He suffered and died an unimaginable death. He ascended to heaven but not before dealing with unbelief in his own followers.
You know on second thought…by comparison my life hardly seems complicated at all. Thank you Jesus!
