People Make Me Smile

Posted: April 27, 2009 in Life in General

People make me smile.  I like to observe people, because, as people we do the darndest things.  Recently while I was driving I saw two ladies walking together.  They were walking at a brisk pace.  It was obvious they were walking for fitness.  I can understand why someone would want to excercise.  It’s good for you (at least that’s what I’m told…never actually tried it myself).  I can also understand why someone would want to exercise with a friend.  A friend can keep you company as you walk.  They can keep you accountable to your excercise program.  They can even help to motivate you.

None of this was strange.  What I found most intriguing was that both women were wearing ipods and had the earphones in their ears.  But, what really made me smile was that I noticed they were shouting to each other so each one could hear over the headphones.  I wish I would have gotten a picture, because that’s just funny.  A picture would have been worth a thousand words.  Instead you just get my thousand words.

So now you’re asking, “what’s the moral of this story?”  I’ve come up with two.

A) We might be in the middle of the information age, but I think the communication age is dying fast.

B)  At any time you might become one of my sermon or teaching illustrations.

NOTE:  If you are one of the women I saw, I don’t apologize for making an example of you.  I do, however, say thank you.  I always need new ammunition for stories.
