Light the Lamp, Not The Rat

This past monday I wrote about FedEx.  I shared from the book of Matthew where it says we are to be the light of the world.  This clip from The Muppets Christmas Carol is one of my favorites.

I think too often in life we fail to light the lamp.  We migh illuminate some other stuff, but we miss the lamp altogether.  One of my favorite songs right now is “Real” by Gateway Worship.  The lyrics say;

Real love has changed us, real hope invade us, You illuminate us.

 God’s love has changed us and His hope should overtake us.  His word should illuminate us, just as it says in Psalm 119:105.  His word is a lamp unto my feet.

The song also goes on to say;

Real love, real life, we’ll illuminate

Because God has changed us and because His hope has invaded us, and because He has illuminated us…we now should take His light and illuminate our world with REAL love.  Too often we light the rat and not the lamp.  God’s love is the real deal.  We need to take that to our world and illuminate it.
