Secret for Making Everyone Happy

Would you like to know the secret for making everyone happy?  So would I.  So if you figure it out, be sure to post a comment here and share it with me.  Although if I were to venture a guess, it would probably have something to do with food.  I’m sorry that is a bit of an inside joke that I guess I have to explain.  I had a funny conversation with the Alber’s this past Sunday where we talked about how good it is to eat food.  It is so hard to be unhappy when you have a belly full of good food.

Not everyone agrees on what constitutes “good food”.  Because of that, even food can’t make everyone happy.   Thinking about cooking made me think about sacrifices and how a burnt offering was made to the Lord.  All throughout Genesis, Exodus and Leviticus we can find references to how as they “cooked” the burnt offering it was an aroma that was pleasing to God.

What if, instead of making everyone happy, we just simply try to do things that are pleasing to God?  But does God want us to make burnt offerings?  Not at all, check out Hosea 6:6 and see what God has to say about sacrifices.  God wants mercy rather than sacrifice.  Jesus repeated this sentiment in Matthew chapter 9

So maybe the secret to making everyone happy starts with first acknowledging God and then showing mercy to others.
